The place talks to her in Cyrillic. The language is a gibberish. She understands through gestures and faces and tones.

She is a child again, new, absorbing everything like living for the first time.

Organic Homemade Living

Commercial products not only take up so much of our budget, they make us ignorant of how the products we use are made. There are products that contain ingredients that we don't really need, or ingredients that are hidden from us (like fish scales in lipsticks).

For the curious in you, the budding chemist, the environmental activist, here is a recipe for that perfect smile.

HOMEMADE TOOTHPASTE

*Citrus tooth powder

1 tbsp dried lemon or orange peel
6 tsp baking soda
1 tsp sea salt

Place peel in food processor, grind until it becomes a fine powder. Add baking soda and salt, then process for a few seconds more until you have a fine powder. Store in an airtight jar.

*Peppermint Toothpaste

6 tsps baking soda
1/3 tsp salt
4 tsps glycerine
15 drops peppermint oil

Mix ingredients together thoroughly until a paste forms. Store in an airtight jar.

*Rosemary-Mint Mouthwash

250ml distilled or mineral water
1 tsp of fresh mint leaves
1 tsp of rosemary leaves...

Mnemosyne is a river in Hades from whence initiates drink to remember everything that was in their lives. Mnemosyne is also the goddess of memory in Greek mythology.

“River Mnemosyne: The MirrorMyth Library” is the photo exhibit of Adelle Victoria at the Blacksoup Project Art Space, Cubao X Shoe Expo, running until December 10.

Victoria explains, “Conjuring these images is mythopoesis, the making of myths. A myth is a sacred story that tells of the beginnings of the world, or of how the world and the creatures in it came to have their present form. In this exhibit, the sequence of imagery is presented as a myth, the mythmaking of the self; a sacred narrative of how the artist’s soul came to be. By sacred, it is meant that the imagery is deemed to be spiritually significant. In ‘The Power of Myth,’ Joseph Campbell wrote that myth is the power of metaphor and poetry; the myth is false literally, but m...

Everyone is invited to the ASIAN EDITION of

A Conference on Media Piracy and Intellectual Property in South East Asia

Date: November 24, 2006, 9:00 am 5:00 pm,
UP Film Institute,
University of the Philippines, Diliman, Metro Manila, CMC Auditorium

Many Filipinos still remember the "Asian Edition" - a scheme during the Marcos years, when American textbooks were reprinted locally and without paying royalties to the original publishers. Now, "Asian Edition" serves as title for a conference that will look at the phenomenon of media piracy in South East Asia today. Music, movie and software piracy is one of the most prominent media issues of the digital millennium. In the Philippines it has started a whole underground economy and currently seems to change the way movies and
other media products are distributed and consumed products here and in other South East Asian countries.

VegCooking: Vegetarian Recipes, Products, Restaurants, and Much More!

The biggest question for a vegetarian is: 'WHAT DO I EAT?' In this country, being vegetarian is such a sacrifice. It means being limited to a few (or zero) dishes in every food establishment's menu. It means not being able to eat everything that's in a buffet table; at times, there's nothing for a vegetarian. It means worrying everytime you go out of your house, whether you'll find something to eat or not. If you live with 'meat-arians', you even end up worrying if there's something for you at your own house.

But vegetarians remain as such because being vegetarian isn't just a culinary choice. It is making a stand for the planet, for animals, for the environment, against world hunger, against consumerism, and definitely pro-health. What we put on our table is the strongest political, social, economic, environmental, and spiritual act that we do on a daily basis.

Here is a site that will help us know what to eat when we've made the

River Mnemosyne Opening Night

Heart spiked, entangled with Time ticking unabashed. Traffic lights and car bumpers keeping the frames from reaching destination. Anxiety, excitement, tired bodies and beating chests. The joyful calm of the gallery girls: Lani, Vanni, and Jeanne. Nylon strings and hooks, paranoia and obsessive compulsiveness. 120 minutes past the bidding time.

Then finally, the curtain rises.

Relief. Glazed Eyes. A soul's surrender. Gathering open hearts. Eyes, eyes, eyes. Beautiful. The flow, the wave, the Bliss, Bliss, blessed Bliss. Finally, the feathers collect, forming Wings.
